8 So the Israelites did as Joshua commanded them. They took twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan, according to the number of the tribes of the Israelites, as the Lord had told Joshua; and they carried them over with them to their camp, where they put them down.9 Joshua set up the twelve stones that had been in the middle of the Jordan at the spot where the priests who carried the ark of the covenant had stood. And they are there to this day. Joshua 4:8-9
This scripture in the bible describes something that we often see on trails. What is it?
Mark 6:31-32
“Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, ‘Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.’ “
This scripture took place at a time where there were no tv’s, cell phones, careers, meetings, etc. Think about anything that keeps you from resting in the spirit. Jesus knew the importance of retreating to a quiet place. In the world we live in today the wilderness is one of the only places that we can truly retreat and rest in Jesus.
